DESCRIPTION:Join your neighbors in giving voice to the community as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) cleans up the heavily contaminated Meeker Avenue Plume Superfund site. All are welcome\, no prior knowledge or expertise required. \nAt the July meeting\, we will be speaking with two experienced facilitators of other Community Advisory Groups in Brooklyn. Patrick Field\, the current facilitator of the Newtown Creek CAG will be joining from CBI. Doug Sarno\, the current facilitator of the Gowanus Canal CAG will also be joining us from the Participation Company. \n  \nWhat is the Meeker Avenue Plume? \nThe EPA has listed the Meeker Avenue Plume as a Superfund site\, meaning it is a heavily contaminated area slated for cleanup. DESCRIPTION:Join expert birder Heather Wolf on a family-friendly 90-minute bird walk throughout Brooklyn Bridge Park. Starting at the Adams Street Library\, we will travel through the parks and piers in search of migrating spring birds! \nThis program is for all ages! Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nRegistration is required.  \nHeather Wolf is the author of Birding at the Bridge: In Search of Every Bird on the Brooklyn Waterfront. She works for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as a web developer\, teaches birding classes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden\, and leads bird walks for various organizations. DESCRIPTION:Join our docents on a tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront\, Brooklyn Bridge Park’s sustainable design\, and how the Park came to life! Waterfront Walks run every Sunday\, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM from May 28 through October 29 (weather permitting). \nWear comfortable shoes\, as these tours traverse the beautiful park landscape! All tours meet outside Van Leeuwen at Fulton Ferry Landing (near the Pier 1 entrance) and last about an hour. \nREGISTER HERERSVP’s are encouraged but not required\, drop ins are also welcome! Registered participants will receive an email closer to the date with tour information\, meeting place location\, etc. \nAlso consider our new Sunset Waterfront Walks\, which run 6:30 PM-7:30 PM the first and third Tuesday of each month\, from June-October (weather permitting)
