The New York City-based all-women\, trans\, and non-binary Brazilian Samba Reggae drum line Fogo Azul (Blue Fire) was born at the intersection of founder and Buffalo\, NY native\, Stacy Kovacs’ passion for Samba Reggae\, her deep respect for its cultural roots as a music of protest and resistance\, her belief and activism in support of gender equality and her sense of civic duty in the current environment to publicly awaken and inspire people to resist oppression and exercise their power to uplift society —loudly. \nFogo Azul will have three performances\, on Sundays: July 14\, August 11\, and September 8. View all dates here. \nThe Open Studios program presents park spaces as an open studio to practice\, develop\, and present their art to the public.

SUMMARY:2024 Climate Cafe (Central Library)
DESCRIPTION:Are you worried about climate change? Is the climate crisis making you anxious? Want to take local climate action but don’t know how to or where? \nWhether you’re a concerned citizen\, an activist\, or just curious about the topic\, this community-organized space is for you. Come have open and meaningful conversations about the climate crisis; share your ideas\, listen to inspiring talks\, learn about local initiatives and emotional resilience tools\, and connect with like-minded individuals. Join us quarterly at BPL Central library’s Information Commons and become a part of a network of thousands of activists and concerned citizens through climate cafés worldwide. \nThe BPL Climate Café is supported in part by Force of Nature\, a non-profit dedicated to turning climate anxiety into action and working with leaders to drive intergenerational solutions.
