Love is in the air! Spend an afternoon with a loved one volunteering with gardeners of El Garden and NYC Parks GreenThumb! EL Garden in Bushwick, Brooklyn is stewarded by dedicated gardeners in the community. They use the garden to grow food, flowers, and trees, have a 3-bin composting system to recycle food scraps, and several areas for social gatherings and events. The gardeners are excited to welcome and work with volunteers on various projects.
Participate in this workday by helping us build and expand raised beds, build a platform for a rainwater harvesting system, and transport soil throughout the garden. Volunteers will learn basic carpentry and garden maintenance skills! This is a great opportunity to learn about the garden’s history, programming, and membership process.
Gloves and tools will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
