Volunteer Day: Build a Garden Bed

Join Howard Garden and NYC Parks GreenThumb for a hands-on volunteer day building new garden beds–no power tools needed! Howard Garden was founded in the late 1980’s by community activists and artists who’ve made a lasting impact in the Brownsville community. These gardeners are still active to this day, and are excited to pass along the knowledge and skills gained through decades of environmental stewardship. This is a great opportunity for beginner and seasoned volunteers looking to join a growing garden!

We’ll provide all the tools, training, and guidance to ensure a productive and safe volunteer day! Please wear sturdy work shoes and weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note some tasks will involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending, squatting, and moving.

In the event of inclement weather, we’ll reschedule this event to Sunday, October 11th.
