Thu, Jul 23, 6:00 to 9:00 PM ~ Spencer Zahn will lead a quartet of multi-instrumentalists to create two fully improvised sets under the open sky. Spencer Zahn is a bassist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, long based in New York and now splitting his time with Los Angeles. A renowned collaborator and touring bassist for artists like Empress Of, Twin Shadow, Kimbra, and Half Waif, Spencer is perhaps best known for his acclaimed work alongside vocalist Dawn Richard and guitarist Dave Harrington of Darkside. His solo albums meld his jazz background with ambient pop, Americana, and neo-classical influences. He was the artist-in-residence for the inaugural year of Unheard in 2023, making his return to the series a homecoming of sorts. Since 2016, they’ve developed over 50 innovative projects spanning live performances, recordings, residencies, and deep listening events. Their work extends beyond presenting music to actively cultivating artists, projects, and audiences through immersive experiences and meaningful contexts.
