Join us for this 2-hour hands-on workshop, attendees will learn how to repair textiles using darning — a mending technique for fixing damaged knits and wovens.
Specifically, this workshop will include:
Attendees should bring an item to work on in the workshop—we recommend looking for small holes or very worn/thin areas in socks, sweaters, hats, and wool shirts or flannels. We don’t recommend jeans, t-shirts, or garments made of delicate fabrics.
The library will provide some yarns and needles to choose from, but please feel free to bring your own materials to suit your preferences. Find recommendations here.
This workshop is led by Repair Shop, a Brooklyn-based duo developing learning experiences and research around maintenance, craft, and design.
