Join local artist Kelly Olshan in this workshop to make jewelry and/or art out of recycled materials. This workshop is for adults and teens + 14.
Workshop participants will develop the following skills:
The workshop will begin with a brief discussion about these materials, as attendees will be invited to share a little about their chosen objects and what they signify. Participants will make jewelry by encapsulating found objects in miniature vials.
Attendees are encouraged to bring tiny found objects from their home or studio. For those who chose not to bring materials from home, the artist will provide plenty of materials—or “artistic artifacts” such as broken plaster pieces, used tape, and dried paint, sourced from local artists’ studios—which all are welcome to use.
Utilizing an introduction to the basics of metalworking, they’ll assemble earrings or a necklace. Following, they’ll have the opportunity to create a small art piece (which can also function as a handmade holiday card, if desired) from recycled materials through collage-making techniques. This is a great opportunity to create a handmade gift!
Registration required. Please be considerate of your fellow guests and stay home if you’re feeling unwell. Also, consider wearing a mask when attending indoor BPL events. You’ll be doing your part to help keep yourself and everyone healthy and safe.
