PowerUp NYC Technical Sessions

Last summer, local New Yorkers joined our Community Town Halls to learn how the City is planning for an equitable transition away from fossil fuels to clean and reliable energy. Join us on December 1 at our next Community Town Hall to hear an update on our energy research and planning, ask questions, and share your ideas on how the City can support your neighborhood.

What is PowerUp NYC?

PowerUp NYC is a collaborative energy planning study that will accelerate City government action to clean up our air, make energy bills more affordable, and create opportunities for local community energy. Through PowerUp NYC, MOCEJ is working with NYC residents, community leaders, and energy experts to develop strategies City government will advance in the next four years to achieve an equitable transition to clean energy by 2050.

To learn more about the energy transition, check out our PowerUp NYC Primer! In it, you’ll find answers to questions like: What does it mean to electrify a building? What are the challenges to cleaning up our transportation system? How does the electric grid work? The Primer is one example of the City’s efforts to democratize energy information and ensure that all NYC residents have the tools they need to help shape our energy transition.

How can I get involved?

These Technical Sessions offer a deeper dive into the methodology behind the City’s energy research. The first session on December 6 covers research relating to greening the grid; the second session on December 7 covers research relating to electrifying our buildings and vehicles. Both session will be held virtually from 6-7:30pm. There will be time for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback.
