DIY Pergola for Small Places (Newport Community Garden)

Join us for a hands-on workshop on how to build a small arch trellis, a space-saving vertical structure ideal for urban gardens. Participants will learn about structural considerations for creating a sturdy arch that supports climbing crops such as beans, cucumbers, peas, and flowering vines. This workshop is perfect for gardeners with limited space who want to grow more vertically or add architectural interest to their garden. Participants will help assemble a sample arch trellis during the session.
NYC Parks GreenThumb hosts this event. We are proud to be the nation’s most extensive urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
