Celebrate the return of Movies with a View and our 22nd season of Brooklyn’s beloved outdoor film series!
On Thursday, August 11 join Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for Thelma and Louise (1991, rated R, 130 minutes), as part of our 2022 theme “Away We Go”.
Meek housewife Thelma (Geena Davis) joins her friend Louise (Susan Sarandon), an independent waitress, on a short fishing trip. However, their trip becomes a flight from the law when Louise shoots and kills a man who tries to rape Thelma at a bar. Louise decides to flee to Mexico, and Thelma joins her. On the way, Thelma falls for sexy young thief J.D. (Brad Pitt) and the sympathetic Detective Slocumb (Harvey Keitel) tries to convince the two women to surrender before their fates are sealed.
Lawn doors open at 6pm and the movie begins at sundown (around 8:30pm). Smorgasburg will provide tasty treats and drinks all evening along the Pier 1 promenade, now starting earlier at 5pm, featuring a selection of NYC’s favorite food vendors! Beer and wine concessions will be available for purchase for adults 21 and over.
The pre-movie lineup includes a DJ brought to you by Brooklyn Radio, and a short film by local filmmakers, selected by BAM Film. Details to come.
Free bike valet will be available thanks to Transportation Alternatives.
