Celebrate the return of Movies with a View and our 22nd season of Brooklyn’s beloved outdoor film series!
On Thursday, July 7 join Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for the first film of the season Before Sunrise (1995, rated R, 105 minutes), as part of our 2022 theme “Away We Go”.
Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy star as two young people who meet and whose lives are forever changed on a train from Budapest to Paris. They may have only one night, but when soul mates find each other, anything can happen Before Sunrise.
After they hit it off on a train bound for Vienna, the Paris university student Celine (Julie Delpy) and the scrappy American tourist Jesse (Ethan Hawke) impulsively decide to spend a day together before he returns to the U.S. the next morning. As the pair roam the streets of the stately city, director Richard Linklater’s tenderly observant gaze captures the uncertainty and intoxication of young love, from the first awkward stirrings of attraction to the hopeful promise that Celine and Jesse make upon their inevitable parting.
Lawn doors open at 6pm and the movie begins at sundown (around 8:30pm). Smorgasburg will provide tasty treats and drinks all evening along the Pier 1 promenade, now starting earlier at 5pm, featuring a selection of NYC’s favorite food vendors! Beer and wine concessions will be available for purchase for adults 21 and over.
The pre-movie lineup includes a DJ brought to you by Brooklyn Radio, and a short film by local filmmakers, selected by BAM Film. Details to come.
Free bike valet will be available thanks to Transportation Alternatives.
