Movies under the Stars: Dom Salvador And Abolition (Commodore Barry Park)

An immersive journey, Dom Salvador and Abolition is the untold story of Dom Salvador, an Afro-Brazilian musician who found a home in New York. Departing at the height of Brazil’s military dictatorship in 73’, Salvador left behind an enormous shadow. Director & Screenplay: Lilka Hara, Artur Ratton.

The 27th Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival is the pioneer Film Festival exclusively dedicated to Brazilian Films in the US and its mission is to promote cultural, educational, individual and collective transformation as well as business exchange between Brazil and the United States. The 27th Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival will continue its 27-year tradition bringing the most recent Brazilian productions to New York from August 25 to September 3 welcoming residents and visitors to experience the Brazilian culture. Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! This summer, NYC Parks and The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will host family-friendly movie showings across the five boroughs.

Movies begin at dusk. This event is FREE and open to the public. Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. In the event of heavy rain or extreme weather, the screening may be canceled. The decision to cancel the event will be made prior to the screening and will be prominently posted on our website.
