Mono Print Using Plant-based Resist | GreenThumb GrowTogether

Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Rain date: Sunday, April 24, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be available until two days before the event. This will allow us time to prepare for the attendees who have registered in advance. Walk-ins and people on the wait list are welcome to attend and observe, but supplies aren’t guaranteed.

Madder root provides a light fast form of red pigment. We will use locally grown madder and everyday kitchen items to create a mono print on cotton. Participants will learn the process to scour and mordant cotton, how to harvest madder root, and the concept of resist dye to create an original artwork.

Participants will be able to dye their own bandana or t-shirt, while supplies last.

Facilitated by Sofia van Leeuwen, Prospect Heights Community Farm (PHCF). Sofia is a Brooklyn based artist working in combined media and steward of the fiber and dye bed at PHCF.
