Introduction to Beekeeping

Tuesday, March 15th, 2022 at 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

$25 – $45

Did you know that all of the worker bees are female? How can you tell a queen bee apart from the others? Have you ever wondered what honey bees do during the colder months?  Get your answers to these questions and much more at the winter introduction to beekeeping with Brooklyn Grange’s Head Beekeeper, Tori Coleman. It’ll leave you buzzing with excitement!

Tori will provide you with a crash course in apiculture, walking participants through a brief history of beekeeping, the beekeeper’s calendar, and the special challenges of keeping bees in an urban setting. We’ll discuss the anatomy of a honey bee; the biology and life cycle of the colony; as well as equipment, hive architecture and basics in beekeeping safety.

This workshop is perfect for those of you who are considering beekeeping for the first time and want to learn more before bee season is in full swing. If this is the year for you to dive into beekeeping, this is a great place to start!
