NBK Parks & Greenery Unlimited are throwing a Greenpoint Ave block party for the 10th Anniversary of Transmitter Park on 9/10 from 2-7pm!
North Brooklyn Parks Alliance and Greenery Unlimited are throwing a block party commemorating the 10th Anniversary of WNYC Transmitter Park on Saturday, September 10 from 2-7pm on Greenpoint Avenue between West Street and the park!
The fun-filled event features live music, family-friendly activations, an art treasure hunt by local artist Steve Wasterval, and food provided by Greenpoint’s diverse restaurant community. The celebration is co-hosted by NYC Council Member for District 33, Lincoln Restler, and NY State Assembly Member for District 50, Emily Gallagher. Plus, Brooklyn Magazine is the media sponsor!
The September 10, 2022 Block Party was partly inspired by a 1977 street fair hosted by New York Public Radio/WNYC that closed the same section of Greenpoint Ave to vehicle traffic so the community could safely gather and enjoy the festivities (image above). Now 45 years later, thanks to a partnership with NYC Department of Transportation, this block of Greenpoint Ave is North Brooklyn’s newest open street, effective on weekends from September 10 – November 13, 2022!
