Visit six gardens in East New York to learn the history of the garden, how it is managed and used by the group, and how you can join.
East New York is blessed with 57 NYC Parks/ GreenThumb gardens, one of the largest such concentrations in New York City. This walking tour will visit a cluster of six that are all within blocks of each other. You will learn a bit of history and how the gardens are being used today by the garden group.
We will begin at Big Red Community Garden followed by CAUSA Festival , the Hendrix Street Garden, Nehemiah Ten, and New Visions. We will finish the tour at UCC Youth Garden. Tour participants will receive a free $2 coupon for use at the Saturday farmers market.
This tour is co-sponsored by NYC Councilman Charles Barron and the East New York Community Land Trust. For more information, contact Bill Pape at 646-477-2038 or william.pape@parks.nyc.gov.
