Design Principles for Urban Landscapes

Brooklyn Grange’s Chief Creative Officer, Gwen Schantz, teaches you how to take your garden plans to the next level. If you’ve attended our “Planning an Urban Vegetable Garden” workshop, this is a great next step, but no prerequisites are needed!   For this class, you should have a general sense of goals for your green space. Gwen will help you plan next steps, including ensuring drainage, soil, and light requirements are appropriate. She will offer plant recommendations for urban settings, ecological considerations, and confirm you have appropriate access and set up for long term success, as well as maintenance considerations for your space, and appropriate vendors to reach out to.  The class will also go through a few garden case studies that have gone through a revamp, discussing why certain design decisions were made as well as potential opportunities.
