Climate Café: Renewable Energy (Central Library)

Saturday, April 19th at 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Free

Are you worried or concerned about climate change? Does the climate crisis make you anxious? Want to take local climate action but don’t know how or where?

Join our Climate Café at Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) to discuss everything related to the climate crisis (including how it makes you feel). Whether you’re a concerned New Yorker, an activist, or just curious about the topic, this community-organized space is for you. According to Force of Nature, as 70% of young people feel climate anxiety and 56% believe humanity is doomed, we urgently need spaces to navigate our climate emotions and translate them into action.

Come and have open and meaningful conversations about the climate crisis, share your ideas, listen to inspiring talks, learn about local initiatives and emotional resilience tools, and connect with like-minded individuals. Join us to become a part of a network of thousands of activists and concerned individuals through climate cafés worldwide.

The 2025 BPL Climate Café Series intends to focus on linking climate concern and anxiety to local action, exploring technologies, innovations and initiatives for climate action in the broad sense. Please join us for the Spring Session: Renewable Energy: To be or not to be electric. With 2025’s Earth Day Theme “OUR POWER, OUR PLANET™” rallying under the hashtag #RenewableEnergyNow, we explore the urgent call to action for rapid renewable energy deployment, including electric vehicles, advanced battery technologies, and innovative renewable solutions that will shape our collective energy future.

Registration is strongly encouraged but not required: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/climate-cafe-at-the-brooklyn-public-library-tickets-1297769887669

This Climate Café will be offered by Brooklyn Public Library, the Climate Café host, and Force of Nature community member Marilynn H. C. Force of Nature is a world community dedicated to turning climate anxiety into action and working with leaders to drive intergenerational solutions. It is supported by BPL’s Info Commons.
