Book Making Basics with Recycled Materials: Fold and Stitch

Join arts educator Hayley Ferber to learn the fundamentals of bookbinding and introduce the use of basic tools and materials. Experiment with single sheet and accordion folds, the 3 hole pamphlet stitch to fold and stitch your own artist books using recycled materials.*

*Recommended as follow up to Suminagashi Paper Marbling on March 11.

Hayley Ferber is an educator, curator and artist living in Brooklyn, New York. As Associate Director of Operations at The Clemente Center, she supports a creative community of multidisciplinary artists. In her personal artistic practice, she creates artist’s books using techniques that include Suminagashi paper marbling, watercolor painting, embroidery and printmaking. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Hayley loves sharing her artistic passions and practices with her students. Hayley has taught workshops for the Swiss Institute, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Pelham Art Center and Gallery North and has shown her work at Equity Gallery, Kalamazoo Book Art Center, 92Y and Aqua Art Miami.  She received her MAT in Art & Design Education from the Rhode Island School of Design and BS in Studio Art from New York University.  @hayleyferber
