Volunteer Workday: Bed-Stuy Farm

GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces.
Bed-Stuy Farm is a vibrant green space revitalized through a partnership with the Brooklyn Rescue Mission Urban Harvest Center. It now serves as a community hub and outdoor classroom, where neighborhood youth learn about food cultivation and community service. The garden supports local food access by distributing fresh produce through its food pantry, and features two greenhouses, a chicken coop, fruit trees, and numerous raised beds.
Join us for a hands-on volunteer day as we upgrade the garden’s aging wooden raised beds with long-lasting metal ones. This is a great opportunity to support a dynamic community space while learning about urban agriculture. Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note: Some tasks may involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending, squatting, and moving.
Groups of 10 or more can sign up by contacting the volunteer coordinator at Kyleen.Sanchez@parks.nyc.gov.
