Battle of Long Island History Hike: Part 1 (John Paul Jones Park)

To kick off this series, join the Urban Park Rangers on a hike into Revolutionary War history as we explore south Brooklyn’s place in the Battle of Long Island. Rangers will lead a walk from John Paul Jones Park, named after the Patriot naval hero, down Shore Road Park past British landing points at Denyse Ferry and Gravesend Bay. Participants will learn about 18th century Brooklyn, the prelude to battle and the beginning of Washington’s greatest defeat.
