GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteers who critically upkeep community gardens as public green spaces.
Amboy Street Garden is a spacious, thriving green space in Brownsville, Brooklyn where an active garden group enjoys vibrant pollinator gardens, 44 food-growing plots, fruit trees and berry bushes, and an inviting space to sit and commune with nature.
Join us for a volunteer day to remove invasive weeds, plant pollinators, and spread wood chips! Volunteers will learn seasonal garden maintenance and how to join a GreenThumb community garden. Gloves and tools will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and clothes and shoes/boots you don’t mind getting dirty. Please note that this activity is outdoors and may require bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy material.
