GreenThumb’s 46th Annual Harvest Fair

Join NYC Parks GreenThumb and GreenThumb community gardeners in celebrating the start of fall with workshops, live entertainment, healthy cooking demonstrations, and more! Save the date for the 46th Annual GreenThumb Harvest Fair on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Herbert Von King Park & Hattie Carthan Community Garden.
Examples of some activities that took place at past GreenThumb Harvest Fairs:
Environmental Programming
- Educational gardening and creative workshops using plants, like flora printing
- Community Garden Tours
- Free daffodil bulbs and seedlings
- Storytelling
Community Partner Tabling
Organizations, like NYC botanical gardens, community-based programs, city agencies, and more will be on-site to answer questions and share information about their programming.
Fun & Games
- Arts and crafts
- Build your own scarecrow for your garden
- Domino games
- Face painting
- Lawn games: cornhole, sack race, tic tac toe, corn toss, jumbo games
- Pick and decorate a pumpkin from the harvest patch
- Pumpkin carving
- Fitness classes
Annual GreenThumb Fresh Chef Contest
This contest challenges participants to replicate their most delicious and nutritious version of a surprise dish demonstrated by a special guest chef. After the demonstration, contestants will then have a limited time to prepare their interpretation of the dish, while visitors cheer them on! The cook-off will conclude with a panel of VIP chefs who will crown the top three GreenThumb Fresh Chefs.

GreenThumb Harvest Fair Competition
Do you think you’ve harvested an award winner? Show off your abundance by sending us your photos of veggies, herbs, flowers, and fruit growing in the garden.
This year, the competition now has a category for Home Gardeners! Submit your best herb and/or produce grown on your windowsills, backyards, front yards, rooftops, etc.
A panel of experienced growers will decide the winners in advance and be announced during our 46th Annual Harvest Fair on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Herbert Von King Park and Hattie Carthan Community Garden in Brooklyn.
