Join hands with community gardeners and GreenThumb staff for a volunteer workday at 400 Montauk Community Garden!
GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces. 400 Montauk Community Garden was first established in 1986 and ran by staples in the community seeking to grow their own food and connect with each other. This principle still holds true today, as 400 Montauk Community Garden seeks to have more volunteers and members of the space to continue a legacy of learning how to grow your own food, have access to fresh vegetables and remain connected to their roots.
Are you new to community gardening? This is a great opportunity to practice garden design skills, meet the gardeners, and learn how to join a community garden. Volunteers will work alongside gardeners and GreenThumb staff preparing the site for new raised beds by disassembling old beds, leveling the soil, and cleaning up various debris.
Gloves and tools will be provided. Bring water, snacks, and clothes and shoes/boots you don’t mind getting dirty. A portable toilet is onsite.
