2022 GreenThumb Harvest Fair Competition – Submission Deadline

GreenThumb gardeners, if you think you’ve grown an award-winning vegetable, flower, or herb, then enter the 2022 Harvest Fair Competition! This year’s competition will be hybrid. You can submit up to 10 different entries in total. The Harvest Fair Contest submissions of vegetables, flowers, and herbs can be submitted digitally by email to [email protected] or send a direct message with the photos via Instagram or Facebook (@GreenThumbNYC).

Submission Deadline: Wednesday, September 7th
No entries will be accepted after this day

Please include the following with your submission:

• Name of the vegetable/flower/herb
• Photo of the full vegetable/flower/herb (see Harvest Fair Contest Guidelines below)
• Size of the vegetable/flower/herb (if possible include photo measuring item)
• Date when picked
• Name of the gardener, or garden if it’s submitted by the whole garden, to be credited for growing the entry

Harvest Fair Contest Guidelines:

1. Picture must be taken inside the garden. You can submit up to 3 photos per entry, one picking it in the garden or on the plant and one with the garden member holding it or of only vegetable/flower separately.
2. All entries must be from members of a registered GreenThumb garden in New York City.
3. Only one entry per photo. If you have multiple items in a picture that entry will not be accepted.
4. If photos are not taken in a garden then points will be deducted at final review.
5. If there is only one submission for the item category then you will receive a honorable mention.
6. Photos must be in .jpg file format and in the highest quality possible.
7. Please name your files in the following format: Vegetable/Flower/Herb Name, Garden Name, Your Name, image number
   Examples:
   – Eggplant_GardenName_YourName01
   – Zinnia_GardenName_YourName01
   – Basil_GardenName_YourName01

Entries will be judged on condition, quality, uniformity of size, and color. Photos might be shared on our website, newsletter, and/or on our social media pages.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 24th during the 43rd Annual GreenThumb Harvest Fair at Friends of Brook Park Community Garden in the Bronx from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Winners will receive a ribbon for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning entries. Gardeners who enter the competition are encouraged to bring their submission to Harvest Fair on September 24th. We will have a place to display your entries during the day.
