Event Series (See All)

GreenThumb community gardens are developed, led, and cared for by dedicated volunteer gardeners who critically upkeep them as public green spaces.

Euclid 500 Community Garden is one of East New York’s largest gardens and a reflection of its local diverse community. The garden group enjoys growing a multitude of culturally-appropriate crops, hosting community events, and sharing delicious meals with one another.

Please join Euclid 500 Community Garden, NYC Parks GreenThumb, and Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Brooklyn Urban Gardeners (BUG) program for a hands-on volunteer day! Fall is a great time to harvest veggies, prepare raised beds for winter, remove weeds, and build new trellises. This is a great opportunity to learn how to join a community garden while supporting an essential community space. Beginners are welcome! No prior experience necessary. Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and bring water and snacks. Note: Some tasks may involve lifting heavy materials and extended periods of bending, squatting, and moving.

For information about group volunteering, please contact the GreenThumb Volunteer Program at gt.volunteer@parks.nyc.gov.

This event is co-hosted by NYC Parks GreenThumb. We are proud to be the nation’s largest urban community gardening program, sustaining over 550 gardens throughout New York City. With GreenThumb’s support, community gardens are centers of environmental justice, ensuring that our city is fairer, safer, and greener for all. GreenThumb’s events are free and open to the public.
