GreenThumb’s 45th Annual Harvest Fair

Save the date for the 45th Annual GreenThumb Harvest Fair on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Herbert Von King Park and Hattie Carthan Community Garden in Brooklyn, NY. Join NYC Parks GreenThumb and GreenThumb community gardeners in celebrating the start of fall with workshops, live entertainment, healthy cooking demonstrations, and more!
Activities will include:
- Microgreen Workshop
- GreenThumb Kiosk
- Greening Partners
- Daffodil Giveaway
- Seedling Giveaway
- Pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and then decorate it
- Archery with the Urban Park Rangers
- Brooklyn Recreation (Arts and Cultural Center)
- Lawn Games – corn hole, sack races, and more!
- Learn how to play Dominos
- Yoga
- Scarecrow Making
- Flower Printing
- Tea Arts & Culture
- Storytelling with Tammy Hall

Do you have what it takes to be GreenThumb’s next Fresh Chef? We’re seeking community members to show off their cooking skills at the 45th Annual GreenThumb Harvest Fair! The GreenThumb Fresh Chef contest challenges participants to replicate their most delicious and nutritious version of a surprise dish demonstrated by a local chef. 2025 GreenThumb Harvest Fair Competition
Do you think you have harvested an award winner? Show off your abundance by sending us your photos of veggies, herbs, flowers, and fruit growing in the garden. Photos of what you grew earlier in the season are eligible to be entered into the competition as well!

Join the 2025 Volunteer Team
Harvest Fair’s success relies on the support of our outstanding community volunteers. We’re looking for a dedicated team of 75 volunteers to help with arts & craft stations, giveaways, lawn games, stage events, workshops, event flow, and other tasks essential to a successful public event. Each volunteer is provided with a boxed lunch and volunteer swag. GreenThumb is able provide or sign a service letter to confirm volunteer hours. Locations:
– Hattie Carthan Community Garden: 363-365 Clifton Place, Brooklyn 11216
– Herbert Von King Park: Marcy Ave & Tompkins Ave between Greene Ave & Lafayette Ave in Brooklyn 11216
Time Commitment (7 hours)
– 6 hours for the event: Saturday, September 27 from 10 A.M.-4 P.M.
– 1 hour for the Virtual Info Session: Thursday, September 18 from 6:30 P.M.-7:30 P.M. OR Tuesday, September 23 from 12 P.M.-1 P.M.
Requirements:
– Must be 18 years old or older
– Must attend one of the separately scheduled Virtual Info Sessions
– Must be able to commit to the full day
– Must arrive on time and be ready to start their volunteer shift
What to Expect:
– Engaging with the general public and sharing information about the event
– Standing, moving, or sitting outside for long periods with opportunities for breaks
– Supporting GreenThumb staff with setting up and maintaining cleanliness at their assigned station
