The Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park Present:
Programming from the Germination Station
Please join the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park for a FREE on-site historic walk and talk with Geoffrey Cobb, Director for Local History at the New York Irish History Roundtable.
This walking tour in the park, will trace the changes and events along Greenpoint’s East River shoreline. Throughout the hour-long program we will hear about Native American beginnings, first European settlers, and the development of the industrial Greenpoint piers ending at present day with a shoreline that is a dramatically transformed waterfront.
Geoffrey Cobb has had a distinguished career teaching history at Erasmus Hall High School. Five books later he continues his writing and research that centers on the history of Greenpoint and Williamsburg.
The Germination Station is sponsored by the Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park. Inspiration for this forum is inspired by the Park’s namesake and historic legacy of public radio broadcasting. Add to this the creation of a community for the expression of ideas and support for public green space.
