Domino Park presents Maker Moments: a creativity series for adults.  Introducing a brand-new series in the park! All grown up missing the craft time kids get? Looking to try out a new hobby without breaking the bank? Over the next 3 months, we’re hosting 4 FREE classes for adults to learn a new skill.

Vegan Soapmaking with NerdDNA

Vegan soapmaking avoids animal exploitation and is kinder to the skin than soap that uses synthetic ingredients. Natural colorants and essential oils can be added to create a custom product that suits personal values & preferences. Participants will:

• Discover the benefits of vegan soap for healthy skin
• Create personalized soap using plant-based ingredients
• Empower themselves with self-sufficiency
• Make informed decisions about skincare products

Sashiko 101: Visible Mending Techniques with Rhiannon Platt

In recent years, Sashiko-style mending has made a comeback after originally being created during the Edo period of Japan to lengthen the life of kimonos.

Now, people are using it to give their favorite jeans or shirts a little more wear. This class will teach students the basics of this classic repair technique by perfecting our skills through patching a hole in a piece of scrap fabric. Students can then take this sampler of the technique home to use as a reference later when fixing their favorite clothes.
