Brooklyn MC MIKE’s annual Young World festival is quickly becoming a haven for a burgeoning young, forward-thinking community anchored by hip-hop culture. With a focus on black musicians and creatives, the festival provides a fully accessible day of music, visual art, food, clothes, and children’s activities in Bed Stuy. Entry to the mini-festival is always free, and the ultimate goal is to inspire the next generation of black youth to see creative professions as a viable option and create their own creative communities – thus “Young World.” For its third iteration—and second in Herbert Von King park—MIKE invites Noname, the critically acclaimed Chicago rapper, community organizer, and founder of Noname Book Club, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and 454. More performers as well as vendors will be announced in the coming months.
