For most of human existence, the seasonal flight of migratory birds and insects has been hidden in plain sight in the night sky above us. The last century of technological advances accelerated our ability to see, study, and participate in this breathtaking effort millions of years in the making. All the while, the landscapes to which these sojourners arrive are disappearing faster than ever. Join us as an urban birder, rooftop farmer, and author Annie Novak discusses her new work, an illustrated narrative of the scientific understanding of nocturnal bird migration. Novak explores this emerging map with history, humor, curiosity, and vibrant visual imagination, prompting us to look at the skies above in a new light. Learn about the new technology available to understand these incredible journeys, and how to support birds along the way.
