Beginner Birding (MPJ Park)

Join us for a walk to learn the basics of bird identification for Black Birders Week! Birders of every level and every age are welcome.

In collaboration with the organizations Black AF In STEM and NYC Audubon, join the NYS Parks’ New York City team in celebrating Black Birders Week 2023! Let’s support budding Black birders, expert Black birders, and all birders and wanna be birders in between!

All programs are free and materials are provided, including binoculars and bird guides.

At each event, participants may enter a raffle to win special prizes including binoculars, plush Audubon birds, or a New York State Park Empire Pass!

Who: All ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Where: The Blue Park House at Marsha P. Johnson State Park

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Registration is highly recommended for all participants to secure your space in the program. Please reserve one ticket per individual.
  • If the program is sold out, but you still wish to attend, we encourage you to walk up and see if space is available.
  • In the case of inclement weather, the program may be rescheduled or canceled. Please be sure to check your email a few hours before the program starts.
