Celebrate Black Birders Week 2026 (May 24-May 30)! Black Birders Week was created in 2020 by the BlackAFinSTEM Collective to celebrate and highlight Black birders, scientists, naturalists, and outdoor enthusiasts who deserve to enjoy their time in nature without fear of harassment.

Join us for a sunset bird walk led by NYC Bird Alliance as part of Black Birders Week 2026! End with a social hour at the Brooklyn Brewery.

Join us for a sunset bird walk led by NYC Bird Alliance, then end the night with discussions on environmental justice during happy hour at Brooklyn Brewery! All experience levels welcome!

In collaboration with the organizations Black AF In STEM and NYC Audubon, join the NYS Parks’ New York City team in celebrating Black Birders Week 2026! Let’s support budding Black birders, expert Black birders, and all birders and wanna be birders in between!

All programs are free and materials are provided.

Who: Adults. Ages 18 and up.

Where: The Blue Park House at Marsha P. Johnson State Park

  • This program is for adults 18 and over.
  • The visit of the Brooklyn Brewery after the bird walk is optional.
  • Tickets are required for ALL people attending the event. Please reserve one ticket per individual.
  • If the program is sold out, but you still wish to attend, we encourage you to walk up and see if space is available.
