Solar One is New York City’s Green Energy Education Center. Originally founded in 2004 to manage Stuyvesant Cove Park and a small environmental education center, Solar One quickly grew into an award-winning organization with a thriving array of programs promoting urban sustainability and education. Solar One’s programs reach all five boroughs.

Solar One manages Stuyvesant Cove Park, an architect-designed, sustainably managed, 2-acre jewel of a Park on land that was once an abandoned industrial site. The Park is now home to hundreds of indigenous plants, flowers, trees, and berry bushes, and a site for many free public events.

Working with over 300 public schools in NYC and beyond, the Green Design Lab program inspires the entire school community – students, teachers, custodians and administrators  – to green their schools and innovate solutions to environmental challenges through emerging technologies.

The Green Workforce Training Program, New York City’s premier green jobs training center, trains and certifies unemployed individuals and incumbent building staff in energy efficiency, renewables, and green building operations and maintenance.

Solar One engages thousands of businesses, residents, and property owners in energy efficiency and renewables through NYSERDA’s EDGE program, providing education and encouraging investment.

With over 400 kilowatts of solar commitments in its pilot year, Solar One is working to make low cost solar accessible to diverse communities across NYC through Here Comes Solar.

The Clean Energy Connections panel series, a collaboration with NYC ACRE, is NYC’s knowledge hub and meeting ground for the cleantech community.
