GreenBridge, the community environmental horticulture program of Brooklyn Botanic Garden, promotes urban greening through education, conservation, and creative partnerships. Working with block associations, community gardens, and other service groups, GreenBridge is building a vibrant network of people, places, and projects dedicated to making Brooklyn a greener place.

Greenest Block in Brooklyn Contest
BBG’s annual free contest is a borough-wide beautification and greening effort. The deadline for block and merchant associations to enter this friendly competition is June 1. Once you have entered, your group can schedule a free Street Gardening Clinic before June to get a head start on this year’s competition.

Brooklyn Urban Gardener Certificate Program
The new Brooklyn Urban Gardener (BUG) certificate program is an ten-week course of interconnected workshops that cover the basics in urban gardening and community greening.

GreenBridge Community Garden Alliance
Members of this active network of grassroots gardeners attend and lead workshops on sustainable horticulture, enjoy seasonal get-togethers and plant giveaways at BBG, receive annual site visits to their community gardens, and much more.

Street Tree Stewards
The Street Tree Stewardship Initiative empowers everyday New Yorkers to correctly care for their trees. Street Tree stewards receive free training, tools, and a Parks Department permit to work on street trees.

Making Brooklyn Bloom
This free annual event kicks off the spring gardening season with exhibits, workshops, networking, and speakers. The day focuses on timely topics that make gardening more sustainable.
